A country is a group of players of the same in-game nationality which can collectively own Regions. There are currently 173 countries in the game. Countries have their own inventories (accounts), diplomacy, governments and more.
Since the world map is split into regions, all countries start out with their “core regions” – these are the regions that are under the respective country's sovereignty in the real world.
Countries can conquer and occupy other countries' region by declaring War, attacking (opening a Battle) and winning.
Regions which contain Strategic Resources contribute to a country's Production Bonus.
Each country has a government, comprised of:
The government of a country can propose and vote on Laws applicable in that country, like taxes, diplomacy, or can impeach other members of government.
If a country lacks government (i.e. all members of government are inactive or banned), any player can take control of that country and self-declare their presidency (doing so in order to abuse this game mechanic in the advantage of another country will result in a game ban). Players cannot take control of other countries if they are part of a country's government; they must first resign from any official function they have in a state.
Countries have their own accounts, which means they can own Coins and Items.
A country collects Coins through Tax Laws. They can spend those Coins to enact Laws, maintain Buildings, buy other countries' regions, and more.
A country can pass diplomacy laws to declare:
Countries which are allied will receive a +10% damage bonus when fighting for each other. Each alliance costs 1 Coin per day.
Declaring war to another country will allow the two countries to attack each other's regions. Being at war with another country does not have a per-day price.
Countries will get a +10% damage bonus when fighting against their Sworn Enemy. Having a Sworn Enemy costs 3 Coins per day.
All users will get assigned citizenship when they join a game based on their geolocation. They can then requests another country's citizenship by submitting a citizenship application on that country's profile. Citizenship applications can be approved or denied by a country's government.
If a citizenship application is approved, the user in question will automatically give up their former citizenship in favour of their newer one.
A player cannot change citizenship if they are part of a country's government; they must first resign from any official function they have in a state.
